A company called BumpTop have created a physics based desktop environment that is designed to simulate a real life office desktop. Icons are simulated as peices of paper and can be moved, grouped, and put into piles. Check out the video below.

It sounds almost too good to be true: a cheap and simple drug that kills almost all cancers by switching off their “immortality”. The drug, dichloroacetate (DCA), has already been used for years to treat rare metabolic disorders and so is known to be relatively safe.

It also has no patent, meaning it could be manufactured for a fraction of the cost of newly developed drugs.

Nike, Apple Team Up on iPod Running Gear

Nike Inc. and Apple Computer Inc. have teamed up to try to become a runner’s best friend. The two companies announced Tuesday they are jointly developing a wireless system so some Nike shoes embedded with a sensor can communicate with Apple’s iPod Nano music player to track a runner’s performance and help choreograph songs to the moment.The Nike+iPod Sport Kit, which will be available in two months at $29, has already won an endorsement from Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong, who plans to run his first New York marathon later this year.

If Vista will be out in a usable form in about a year (or more) WHY would people spent money NOW for hardware ? In one year, the same money could buy you h/w with at least 40 to 50% more in terms of speed and storage capacities ???? This is simply retarted …. (but not a bit surprising).

One of the hottest tidbits of Apple juice last week was a news story that Apple is working on a iPod/mobile phone hybrid device with Softbank Corp.

On May 13th the Japanese Nihon Keizai Shimbun Saturday Morning edition reported that Apple and Softbank are working together to develop mobile phones capable of downloading and playing music from the iTunes store. That story was then picked up by Japanese news agency Nikkei Net Interactive (subscription req’d).

Softbank will reportedly be the service provider for the new mobile phone joint venture through its acquisition of the Japanese unit of British mobile phone company Vodafone Group Plc.
