Google gets in on video advertising

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

Google Inc. said Monday the company is ready to help Web sites run video advertisements, putting the Web search leader into competition with television for the biggest chunk of ad spending.Google (Research) is seeking to take the pay-per-click model it refined for text ads and apply the approach to video, cleaning up a nascent market where irritating ads that appear uninvited over the main text and then disappear distract users and limit advertisers’ desire to spend money on the medium.

Mesothelioma Symptoms

Monday, May 22nd, 2006

The early symptoms of mesothelioma are generally non-specific, and may lead to a delay in diagnosis. Sometimes resembling viral pneumonia, pleural mesothelioma patients may present with shortness of breath, chest pain and/or persistent cough; some patients show no symptoms at all. A chest x-ray may show a build-up of fluid or pleural effusion (discussed below). The right lung is affected 60% of the time, with involvement of both lungs being seen in approximately 5% of patients at the time of diagnosis. Less common symptoms of pleural mesothelioma include fever, night sweats and weight loss. Symptoms of peritoneal mesothelioma may include pain or swelling in the abdomen due to a build-up of fluid, nausea, weight loss, bowel obstruction, anemia or swelling of the feet. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THESE SYMPTOMS MAY BE CAUSED BY MESOTHELIOMA OR BY OTHER LESS SERIOUS CONDITIONS. ONLY A DOCTOR CAN MAKE A DEFINITIVE DIAGNOSIS.

Mesothelioma

Monday, May 22nd, 2006

Mesothelioma is one of the deadliest diseases known to man; the average life span of an inflicted person from the time of diagnosis until death is less than 6 months. It’s a disease that strikes approximately 3,000 United States citizens each and every year; hard working people who have labored for a lifetime to provide for their families, doing the work that keeps this country running and a great place to live. They worked in factories, at shipyards, in mines, for the US military, as engineers, as pipefitters, as steel workers, as auto mechanics, and in so many other professions. They came home to their loved ones exhausted and covered in dirt and dust; tired, but content that they had a job and were providing for their family. Content that they were putting food on the table and a house over their loved one’s heads. Content that they were working to make a better life for their families in this generation and the next… But what they didn’t know was that while they were working so hard, they were not only slowly killing themselves, but those that they were working so hard to help; their family, their loved ones.

About Mesothelioma Lawyers

Monday, May 22nd, 2006

Mesothelioma is a disease that, until recently, was uncommon and little was known about it. However, as cases of the disease have started to increase, a new breed of lawyers – those dealing specifically with mesothelioma lawsuits – have stepped in to the limelight. These lawyers and law firms deal, sometimes exclusively, with mesothelioma victims and their families who wish to claim compensation from the companies that were responsible for their exposure to asbestos. These mesothelioma lawsuits provide millions in compensation for the victims and a commission for the lawyer or law firm. Those who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma have every right to file a lawsuit. Many of the companies responsible for exposing their employees to asbestos were well aware of the dangers and effects, but still saw fit to let their workers continue with little or no protection against the dust and fibres that emanated from this hazardous material. Now, decades later, the effects of this exposure is taking its toll on the workers just as they reach or are enjoying retirement. Quite rightly, the workers want to see justice done in the form of compensation, although this will never make up for the pain, suffering and loss of life that many of them have been sentenced to.
