Mock Draft 2007 version 1
Even though in my previous post I wrote that ”tha radahs” would not take Russell in the first round. I have decided to play it safe. Since the deal with Moss and Green Bay isnt progressing, the Raiders will most likely fill their weakness at QB.
1. Raiders - JaMarcus Russell, QB, LSU: I’m not so sure this will be the route they take. It seems like Calvin Johnson is on their radar and is, in my opinion, the top player in the 2007 draft. But until they unload Randy Moss or Jerry Porter, I don’t think it’s likely they take Johnson #1. So, for now, Russell is probably their guy.
2. Lions - Joe Thomas, OT, Wisconsin: This would probably be the wisest choice for the Lions, but we all know that GM Matt Millen doesn’t always do the “wise” thing. A QB is also an option here, especially if Oakland takes Calvin Johnson.
3. Browns - Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma: Peterson had an excellent combine and will probably be the top guy on Cleveland’s list. Many people think they may not go with a RB and may go QB, especially following the recent signing of Jamal Lewis. However, the Lewis deal is only for a year and I could see Peterson using this year to learn the ropes in Cleveland while platooning with Lewis, then taking over in 2008.
4. Bucs - Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech: It’s no secret that the Bucs have their eye on Johnson. Who knows…they may even consider moving up to secure him. However, should Johnson not be here, Joe Thomas (if available) or a trade down are possibilities.
5. Cardinals - Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson: They are certainly going to look for help on the defensive side of the ball throughout this draft and Adams would be a perfect fit for them, as he will greatly improve their pass rush. However, if Joe Thomas is on the board somehow in this spot, look for Arizona to jump all over him.
6. Redskins - Alan Branch, DT, Michigan: Washington will need to address their DL and Branch is the guy I think they’ll go with. However, there are recent reports that Branch hasn’t looked as good during workouts as many scouts had hoped. If they shy away from Branch, look for them to take Jamaal Anderson.
7. Vikings - Jamaal Anderson, DE, Arkansas: Vikings could go many different ways. They need to improve their pass rush, which is why I have Anderson going to them. However, they will certainly take a look at Brady Quinn and LaRon Landry just to name a few. But hopefully they play nice and let the dolphins draft Quinn.
8. Falcons - LaRon Landry, S, LSU: I think that Landry is the guy they want and is why they make Houston throw in the swapping of picks as part of the Matt Schaub trade. He’s the top defensive back in the draft and it looks like Atlanta is his likely landing spot.
9. Dolphins - Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame: I’ve talked about the many scenarios that could play out here. Miami could trade up to secure Quinn. They could trade down and take either a corner, safety or Levi Brown. But if Brady Quinn falls to #9, and I think the chances are beginning to swing in Miami’s favor, he will surely be Cameron and Mueller’s pick. Here’s to hoping this plays out the way I am predicting!!
10. Texans - Levi Brown, OT, Penn State: Texans offensive line has been poor which is why David Carr has been a failure. Now they will look to finally improve their O-line in order to keep their new “franchise QB” on his feet.
11. 49ers - Adam Carriker, DE, Nebraska
12. Bills - Marshawn Lynch, RB, Cal
13. Rams - Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville
14. Panthers - Reggie Nelson, S, Florida
15. Steelers - Pat Willis, LB, Ole Miss
16. Packers - Greg Olsen, TE, Miami (FL)
17. Jaguars - Dwayne Bowe, WR, LSU
18. Bengals - Leon Hall, CB, Michigan
19. Titans - Ted Ginn, WR, Ohio State
20. Giants - Paul Posluszny, LB, Penn State
21. Broncos - Jarvis Moss, DE, Florida
22. Cowboys - Chris Houston, CB, Arkansas
23. Chiefs - Robert Meachem, WR, Tennessee
24. Patriots - Brandon Meriweather, S, Miami (FL)
25. Jets - Aaron Ross, CB, Texas
26. Eagles - Sidney Rice, WR, South Carolina
27. Saints - Michael Griffin, S, Texas
28. Patriots - Darrelle Revis, CB, Pitt
29. Ravens - Anthony Spencer, DE, Purdue
30. Chargers - Dwayne Jarrett, WR, USC
31. Bears - Joe Staley, OT, Central Michigan
32. Colts - Lawrence Timmons, OLB, Florida State

Posluszny remains a good source of tackles and should be started as a No. 2 Fantasy LB in IDP leagues in Week 11 against Cleveland. (Updated 11/09/2008). No information available at this time. No information available at this time
